Lunch and Learn
      CAMBRIDGE HOUSE OF NEWNAN
bulletThe Cambridge House of Newnan is sponsoring a Lunch and Learn on March 27,  2008 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.  We are offering support, encouragement and resources for caregivers of people with Alzheimer's  and/or other memory/judgment disabilities.  There is no cost to attend. Refer to the           Lunch and Learn Flyer for detailed information. Share this information with           individuals you believe this conference would be of help to them.
Elder Abuse Prevention Southeast Regional Conference
Mark your calendars for April 9th and 10th for the Southeastern Regional Conference on Elder Abuse to be held at Valdosta State University.  Take a look at the initial flyer.  This will be a 1 1/2 day conference - brief overview:  
Day 1: Dan Sheridan : wound identification and documentation.  
Day 2: Kim Grier : How to interview/interact with someone with dementiaCecil Hutchins : What to do and not do at a crime scene and when a victim presents to the ER (for non-law enforcement)
Meg Heap : Prosecuting elder abuse cases.
VSU will be providing Continuing Nursing Education credits as well as POST credit for law enforcement.  Continuing Legal Education will be provided through PAC.

CARE-NET Support Group Meetings

bulletThe Southern Crescent CARE-NET Support Group is open to all caregivers.  Meetings are located at Bellevue Senior Center located at 1050 West Bankhead Highway, Villa Rica, Georgia.  This support group meets the first Monday of every month at 9:00am.  All Caregivers are welcome.  For more information contact Belinda Jones at 678-552-2852 or 706-407-0032 or email bjjones@dhr.state.ga.us.

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
bulletInformation and assistance is provided for grandparents raising their grandchildren in conjunction with Support Group Meetings.  These meetings are  held specifically for grandparents raising their grandchildren and are conducted in the ten county region.  For more information on event activities, locations, and times contact Gloria Sanford at 678-552-2847 or 706-407-0021 or email gdsanford@dhr.state.ga.us.

Lifelong Planning Presentations
bulletThe Southern Crescent Area Agency on Aging GeorgiaCares Lifelong Planning Coordinator will be making presentations throughout the region on issues such as long term care facts, options, and consumer protection techniques for making safe, well informed decisions about lifelong planning.
