Jeff Brown is Awarded the 2005 Georgia Gerontology Society Award

Jeff Brown accepts the 2005 Georgia Gerontology Society 2005 Legislative Award from Bobby Buchanan, Director of the Southern Crescent Area Agency on Aging.

The Georgia Gerontology Society presented its 2005 Legislative Award to Representative Jeff Brown of LaGrange at its annual conference in Savannah September 25-27, 2005.  The award was presented to Representative Brown by Bobby Buchanan, Director of Southern Crescent Area Agency on Aging, which nominated Representative Brown for the award because of his continuing support and active participation in legislative matters affecting seniors in Georgia .  Representative Brown has demonstrated his support having served on the Human Relations and Aging Committee for 10 of the 11 years he has served as a legislator.  He has chaired the subcommittee for Prescription Drugs for low income seniors and worked very closely with the States Area Agencies on Aging.  Out of this grew Georgia Cares.  Presently Representative Brown serves as Chairman of the Health Subcommittee of the Appropriations Committee.

Representative Brown has also been recognized with the 2005 Legislator of the Year for Georgia Association Training Education Services (GATES) which is primarily made up of Shelter Workshops throughout Georgia and the 2005 Legislator of the Year for Georgia Association of Home Services for Children, Georgia ’s oldest and largest association of children and family service providers.
